(g). Stanzas of Eight Verses.
Eight heroics, the first six rhyming alternately, the last two in succession, are known as Ottava Rima. Many of the great poems of Italy, Spain, and Portugal are arranged in this stanza: Byron's translation of Morganle Maggiore and his Don Juan are the best English examples of it.
But the Consul's brow was sad,
And the Consul's speech was low, And darkly looked he at the wall,
And darkly afc the foe. •' Their van will be upon us
